This year for the Father Daughter Dance, I decided to try and coordinate the cake decorating badge requirements with the dance in order to allow the girls to showcase their work at the dance and to add a little personal troop touch to the festivities as it is an activity for people outside of the troop as well. The older girls will be decorating small 8" round cakes for the dance that will act as centerpiece/desserts for the dance.
We have a general seaside/beachy theme for the dance, I want the cakes to reflect that in an abstract kind of way, using ocean blues, and sandy beige. The girls will also be making shell shaped chocolates that will adorn the cakes. I would like each cake to be unique , but all tied together through colors and themes
Here are some previous beachy cakes I have made, this is my starting point for the designs, I would like them to be elegant.
I have been scanning Pinterest of course for some ideas and I am really excited to try some new techniques like these fondant ruffles with an ombre affect. I am planning on using that affect on the main dance cake (a large tiered cake) as well.
