Oh, the places you’ll go!

I made this cake last year for my church they had a special dinner for the graduating class.


They asked me to make a cake this year as well, I obliged but I decided to mix it up a bit. While I liked the idea of last years I wasn’t its biggest fan, go figure. I decided to go with a more 3dish look with a pop up book look to the cake. All french vanilla cake with Buttercream and fondant icing. In lieu of coloring all the icing into the rainbow of colors I needed which would have taken FOREEEVVVER! I decided to try my hand at painting fondant. I think I am going to take some painting classes because I really dig painting.



I actually made a change to the page of the book after this picture in which I removed all the of the kind of smudgey looking writing and just wrote "Oh, the places you'll go!" it looked much nicer after that.
